Last weeks poll, conducted by Smith and Andrus, showed 48.9 percent in favor, 42.7 percent against, and 6.2 percent undecided or failing to state a position on Proposition 1. In May, a poll on the initiative to forbid granting so-called "special rights" to homosexuals showed 48 percent opposed and 37 percent supporting. Smith said the poll was taken last week with a statewide sample of 400 randomly selected registered voters. Tracy Andrus, pollster, said the opposition to Proposition must do a better job at defining the terms. Most voters are opposed to giving homosexuals special rights, and that is all they know about the issue. The results are surprising to some given the fact that most state politicians and newspapers have taken public stands against the anti-gay Proposition 1. ====================================== Submitted by BoiseBear@aol.com For more information, contact No on 1 Coalition, PO Box 797, Boise, ID 83701, 208-376-1599, Email: NoProp1ID@aol.com ======================================
