April 7, 1993 OPPONENTS OF ANTI-GAY INITIATIVE FORM SECOND CHAPTER Statesman staff The Idaho Statesman Idaho for Human Dignity, a group formed to oppose the ant-gay initiative sponsored by the Idaho Citizens Alliance, formed a second state chapter a couple of weekends in Idaho Falls. The East Idaho chapter of Idaho for Human Dignity involves around 40 people from Pocatello and Idaho Falls. The group is working on chapters in Twin Falls, Moscow and Lewiston. Another group opposing the initiative, Nez Perce/Latah County Voices for Human Rights, formed separately from Idaho for Human Dignity. "People in eastern Idaho have to reach out better to the straight community," said Robert Shaffer, spokesman for Idaho for Human Dignity. "There are more friends out their are people who are opposing us; we just have to pull them in."
