Date: Sun, 9 Nov 1997 00:52:56 -1000 From: ramsey@math.hawaii.edu (Tom Ramsey) Subject: HAWAII NOV 9 THE BATTLE BEGINS FOR NOVEMBER 1998 Hawaii's Future Today, the (holy?) union of Mormon and Roman Catholic leaders against same-gender marriage, is bringing author Stephen R. Covey ("The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People") to Hawaii to raise money for SAVE TRADITIONAL MARRIAGE-98 their new political campaign. Covey will be here November 20, at the Hyatt Regency Hotel. He'll give an afternoon business seminar, 1:30 pm to 4:30 pm, for $125/person. He'll also give a dinner presentation, 6:30 to 8:30 pm for $100/person. Here are their advertising themes, as displayed in an advertisement in the Hawaii Catholic Herald for Oct. 31, 1997: DO YOU SUPPORT MARRIAGE BETWEEN ONE MAN AND ONE WOMAN? DO YOU SUPPORT THE 1998 CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT TO PRESERVE TRADITIONAL MARRIAGE? Join Hawaii's Future Today in Hosting a Benefit for etc. etc. etc. Of course, no one is threatening traditional marriage, but the big lie as effective propaganda was taught to the whole world by Hitler, Goebbels and their henchmen. Just repeat it often enough. But entirely appropriate to Halloween! I wonder if gay-bashing is now a standard technique of highly effective people? A special mahalo to Dignity leader Gene Corpuz for sending me a copy of this ad. Dignity represents gay Roman Catholics. Best Regards, Tom Ramsey Ex-Officio, Marriage Project Hawaii PS.
