Brown, whose numbers are conservative, predicts nearly $2 billion in the first year alone. The broadcast interviewed her by telephone, Dan Foley, Terrance Tom (possibly old footage---saying that the legislation made it clear two years ago that marriage was intended to be between a man and a woman), and showed extensive footage of Bill Woods being married at last year's gay pride parade (the June 1994 parade). My only quibble with the coverage is that Ninia and Genora, or Pat and Joe, as inter-racial couples and plaintiffs in the court case, would have made much better models for what same-sex marriage is about in Hawaii. It's unbelievable that the state is laying off people when their budget shortfall could end tomorrow---with no new investment (such as casinos) and by doing justice. Foley made it clear that the state is shooting itself in all of its vital organs, by delaying justice. Jennifer Brown's study will be widely disseminated in the next two months. I videotaped the short broadcast, for those of you who'd like to analyze it. Aloha! Tom Ramsey Secretary, HERMP P.S.
