Date: Tue, 8 Sep 1998 20:19:54 -1000 From: ramsey@math.hawaii.edu (Tom Ramsey) Subject: THE HAWAII CAMPAIGNS POC's AND HRC's WEB PAGES ABOUT HAWAII HRC has a campaign (registered in Hawaii) to help win the "no" vote on November 3rd. It is called Protect Our Constitution/HRC, and can be reached at HRC's web page http://www.hrc.org They have a page there for making a donation by credit card to Protect Our Constitution/HRC: https://www.hrc.org/joinus/hawaii.html Please check it out! By the way, the $1000 limit on individual contributions is no longer part of Hawaii law. Hawaii's attorney general has conceded that such limits for "issues" campaigns violate First Amendment (free speech) Rights of the U. S. Constitution. Protect Our Constitution is the field campaign in Hawaii, headed by Jackie Young. The two campaigns are affiliated (practically, and in terms of Hawaii's election laws). Their web address is http://www.poc-hawaii.org On that web site, you can see a picture of the President of Hawaii's League of Women Voters, Jean Aoki. Jean has done a wonderful TV ad, and the web site has the script of the ad. Major funding for this effective ad has been provided by Protect Our Constitution/HRC; the League itself is also making a financial commitment to the "no" campaign. Jean Aoki also participates in making phone calls to registered voters. Many commented that they recognized her from the TV ad. Just under two months, and counting each vote! Tom Ramsey
