Clearing up much of the confusion that has surrounded the signing of the Reciprocal Beneficiaries Law and applications that surfaced over the weekend. APPLICATIONS TO BE DISTRIBUTED ON JULY 1ST: At a press conference this afternoon, Dr. Lawrence Miike, Director of the Department of Health, stated that his office in Honolulu will be distributing the applications beginning at 7:45pm tomorrow morning. He said that he will personnally be handing them out as not to overburden his staff. NEIGHBOR ISLAND APPLICATION DISTRIBUTION SET FOR JULY 1ST: Both the Hilo and Lihu`e Governor Liasion Offices confirmed late this afternoon that they will begin distribution of the applications tomorrow morning also. It is anticipated that all neighbor island offices will be starting the distribution of forms as well. Community members are urged to check on Maui, Lana`i, Moloka`i and in Kona beforehand. PROCESSING UPDATE: According to media release this afternoon, the new Reciprocal Beneficiaries Law will be effective July 8th, however, retroactive to July 1st. Applications will be processed beginning July 8th. KAUA`I ANTICS UPDATE: The scheduled mass registration and "mailbox blessing" is now tentatively scheduled for Monday, July 7.
