And that's fine, I would rather receive 8 or 10 postings of the same item and then delete them rather than tell people not to send items, and miss something. And to be truthful, I don't necessarily read everything that is sent to me either, but try to give it a glance at the very least. The original project (of posting Hawai`i marriage-related material) evolved as a response to several basic concerns: 1) An appalling lack of information about the marriage case that was available even within our own community's media, and 2) A method of communicating within Hawai`i's activist community on information that is critical during legislative session, etc., and 3) The ability to start archiving our own history and keep it safe from revisionists. After all, what was started by Bill Woods and the plaintiffs and carried forward by Tom Ramsey, Sue Reardon, Tracey Bennett, Dan Foley, Evan Wolfson et al., is nothing short of the most important civil rights case in this country, this decade. The broadcasting project started out small, mostly a Hawai`i-based network of friends, associates, fellow activists, etc. As word spread of this project, more and more requests came for inclusion, which is fine, that's what I do this posting for. I have had many requests since then to send specific things to specific places, here and there and everywhere. Sorry, I'm just not able to tailor all this to everyone's needs. I've had to insist that everybody that wants some information take it all. I simply don't have the time for thousands of individual postings. BUT there are some solutions for "TOO MUCH E-MAIL." Ron Buckmire offers an edit and digest version of his lists, which filters the chat. I subscribe to the digest versions of marriage and queerpolitics. They're a wonderful service, and I suggest that all who need to gain some control over their incoming e-mail consider this solution. Also, Ron Buckmire has offered to start a new list, HAWAII-MARRIAGE, to help with the overload on the other lists. I have agreed to this wholehearedly, but found nonexistant to lukewarm support from activists here in Hawai`i for this concept. In fact, there was only one response to a call in and around Honolulu for just such a list, it came in favor from Evan Wolfson, in New York! Personally, I have no problem posting to wherever someone wants this material to be posted, just direct me to the spot or list. And if someone wants to moderate the list that Ron Buckmire has offered, if his offer is still available, then it can all go there.
