Date: Thu, 29 Feb 1996 08:33:59 -1000 From: Mia H H Lam TERRY RANDALL TARGETS GRAULTY, MIZUGUCHI, AND OTHERS Hi Tom - I figured that you would have already heard of Jay Seculo and the ACLJ! Jay is also R.A.T.'s lawyer. Today is the day that R.A.T. and his entourage leaves for Hawaii. I'm just getting around to listening to the tape of yesterday's (2/27/96) broadcast of "Randall Terry Live." He starts out with a phone interview with Del Gibbs, general manager of radio station KAIM, Christian radio in Hawaii. Randall asked Del to comment about the "bad news" from the Hawaii Senate Judiciary Committee. R.A.T. is upset that the Domestic Partners bill was reported out of the committee. Del Gibbs says that he has heard that DP will pass on the Hawaii Senate floor. R.A.T. and Del then discuss "God's warnings in Leviticus 18" that nations that recognize homosexuality will be "vomited out." Del says that this Friday, March 1, people from churches are going to lobby against queer marriage to state legislators going from "door-to-door." R.A.T. mentions that he is going to be doing some broadcasting from KAIM. R.A.T. asks his listeners to call: Number one: Senate Judiciary chairman "who is our enemy...uh, and I've done my homework before. He's an appeaser, he's a coward and he obviously is not only in favor of the Domestic Parnership law, but he passed it out of his committee." Ray Graulty - (808) 586-6670 (also gave 566-6670) "let him [Graulty] know your righteous anger." Number two: Norman Mizuguchi (Senate President) (808) 586-6870 "Now he [Mizuguchi] is a liberal and he wants the Domestic Partnership law to try and appease the Supreme Court Ruling." Number three: The Supreme Court of Hawaii: (808) 539-4919 Number four: Terence Tom (Assembly Judicial Committee Chairman). "He has not allowed the constitution amendment to come out of committee on the lower house side. ...I've heard that he is on our side. I would not have known when he was on the program. Terence Tom's number: (808) 586-6490 Finally call the Hawaii attorney general's office: Margery Bronster (808) 586-1500 Steven Michaels "not fighting this case to win" "Urge them to fight this case to win" R.A.T. is aware that if queer marriage or domestic partners passes in Hawaii, the other states will have to recognize these relationships because the U.S. Constitution requires states to recognize contracts made in other states. He mentioned it on the show Tuesday, 2/27 and also on the Monday show 2/26. On the Monday show someone called up from Nebraska and something is happening in Nebraska was a don't-recognize-queer-marriages-in-other-states law on Feb 28, which is today and the day that R.A.T. and his friends are coming to Hawaii. He's trying to use this to whip up his listeners to support his trip and to make calls. There is quite a bit of blather about how marriage between a man and a woman is "God's plan for marriage." R.A.T. calls himself and other opponents of queer marriage "pro family" and refers to queers as "perverts." I'm going to get this off, but I haven't finished listening to the 2/27 tape. Jim
