			CAYETANO'S LETTER TO THE OLD
			        COMMISSION

	Bob Stauffer (AFSC representative on the old commission) that
Cayetano has recently sent a letter to several commission members.  In that
letter, he says that he will NOT appoint 4 replacement commissioners
to fill the vacancies created by the removal of the Mormon and Catholic
representatives and that he will leave the future of the commission up
to the legislature (i.e., Rey Graulty, the only person taking any leadership
on this issue).  If you happen to be writing to Cayetano, focus on these two
items:

	A)  Conduct the court case in such a manner as to achieve equal
            rights for gay men and lesbians.  In particular, the AG's
            office should not be spouting lies in the media about same-
            gender couples as being less than fit as parents.  Also, if
            there are no compelling state interests in discrimination
            (as Mazie and Ben believe), then say so in court.

        B)  Designate someone in his administration to lead on this issue.
            Right now, no one is in charge and into this power vacuum Rey
            Graulty has charged.
