The Legislature is proving to be as mercurial as possible. With news breaking daily, e.g. Dan Foley's brief being submitted last Friday, the Legislature's estimate of what it should (or can) do changes daily. You can help by calling your legislators and quoting Attorney General Bronster. Bronster is firm that the state does NOT need a new law banning same gender marriage because the 1994 is good enough to do that. THE LEGISLATURE SHOULD TAKE HER AT HER WORD. Mike Gabbard agrees with her: no new anti-same-gender marriage law. His reason is this: he fears that us liberals will attach a new domestic partnership bill to it, and he hates that possibility. Please encourage the legislature to do nothing about marriage. IF they insist on a new anti-marriage-law, then shift gears and ask them in fairness to link it to the Governor's domestic partnership bill. How do we keep the community informed of the daily changes in the climate at the State Capitol? The easiest way is by email. Alas, we don't have email addresses from most of our supporters. PLEASE HELP US CALL SUPPORTERS THIS WEEK, TO GATHER EMAIL ADDRESSES. Call 942-3737 to volunteer (leave a message about when you can do this). Just to give you a feeling about how radical the news might be, consider the following possibility (one of many). Vermont MIGHT legalize same-gender marriage in April. Can you imagine how that will stir up the legislature? More than ever, we need to be able to communicate quickly. PLEASE HELP. The MPH Team
