On Sunday morning, December 5th, Archbishop John C. Favalora will present Fr. William F. Collins, OFM, the founder and current C.E.O. of the Poverello Food Bank, with the Catholic Charities "Compassion" award. According to Reverend Dennis Rausch, HIV/AIDS Ministry Director of Catholic Charities, the honor will be conferred upon Fr. Bill after the completion of the 10:00 A.M. Archdiocese World AIDS Day Eucharistic services. "This award humbles me before all our dedicated volunteers who so selflessly give of their time and energy assisting those we serve. While I am deeply honored and surprised, I know that without this community, coupled to the volunteer effort and faith in our mission, the Archbishop's recognition would not have materialized," noted Fr. Bill. According to Ken Fountaine, Poverello's Vice President, "the Compassion Award is synonymous with Poverello and Fr. Bill because both encapsulate the essence of human love and caring for our sisters and brothers in their time of crisis." The Archdiocese of Miami Catholic Charities HIV/AIDS award is conferred upon members of the community who have given generously of their time, talent and compassion for the men, women and children living with HIV/AIDS. The address of St. Mary~s Cathedral is 7525 N.W. 2ND Ave., Miami. For further information please contact Poverello (954) 561-3663 or Catholic Charities HIV/AIDS Ministry at (954) 565-7595.
