Lauderdale, Florida. According to information received there has been a failed attempt to alter the formal plans of our communities peaceful long-term vigil of the Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church and its anti-gay-ministries information center. All volunteers, participants and supporters are asked that they cooperate solely with the instructions of "Gays United Against Repression and Discrimination (GUARD). GUARD is the authorized lead organization when issuing instructions on timing, proper stations designated by Detective Potts of the Ft. Lauderdale Police Department and any other event staging by the leadership committee. The police department and GUARD are the official security and informational agencies determining participation guidelines and demonstration instructions. Please do not accept press kits, directives, and function directives from anyone other than Rich Ramos, Karl Clark and the officially appointed GUARD committee delegates possessing authorized credentials. Remember, while Dr. D. James Kennedy calls for the Reclaiming of America for Christ others are calling for "Separation of Church and Church" so that institutions fully accepting LesBiGays into their congregations share in the Constitutional right of "Freedom of Religion and Freedom From Religious Persecution." Evangelical Fundamentalist Janet Folger, special assistant to Dr. Kennedy's ministries, and others would have you believe otherwise. They has backed media ads which advocate the alleged need for born-again conversion therapy as the only righteous path to acceptance and inclusion if you are a gay woman or man. Over forty South Florida organizations reject the intolerance and shortsighted nature of zealots leading this open and subliminal intolerance campaign against non-heterosexuals. The 5:30 P.M. August 22nd peaceful march for tolerance, truth and mutual respect will be held at the Ft. Lauderdale Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church (north of Commercial Blvd. on U.S. 1) and anyone wishing information on the structured event should call the GUARD hotline at (954) 570-5791 or (954) 269-3204.
