SO.FLORIDA LEGION POST MEMORIAL DESECRATED

American Legion Post 29, Miami, Florida. The members and friends
of Florida Gold Coast Log Cabin Republicans were shocked when
they saw a long-time Miami American Legion memorial, dedicated to
those who died serving this country, defaced by what appeared to
be hate-mongering vandals.

Allegedly, as of 1:00 P.M. Sunday afternoon, the Miami police
have not investigated the matter. Some community representatives
are under the impression that the action may not be considered
a matter of serious public concern.

Bud Robins of San Francisco's Alexander Hamilton American Legion
Post, a guest at the Center for an afternoon brunch, was saddened
by the obvious disrespect for our nation's servicemembers who
fought and died for the freedoms we enjoy as citizens of this
great country.  

Andy Eddy, Communications Director for Log Cabin Republicans felt
that the attack may have be due to anti-gay forces upset over a
recent publicized guest appearance by LCR's national director
Richard Tafel. He is calling upon concerned Republican,
Democratic and church leaders to immediately address the issue so
that any further flare ups will be discouraged.

"Regardless of the suppositions, it is evident that a response by
the proper authorities is necessary and should have not been
delayed as alleged," Eddy stated.
