Lauderdale, Florida. Yesterday, nineteen Florida State House Representatives said "NO" to the unfortunate, yet intolerable, insensitivity of their colleagues who defied equality by codifying FL. House Bill #147. This legislation blatantly denies same-sex domestic partnerships and all corresponding benefits to gay women and men who are caring, loving, and consenting adults in a long-term relationship. Log Cabin Progressive Equalitarians congratulate and sincerely thank those 19 State Representatives for making a tough and righteous decision thereby not scapegoating a minority for societies ills. Their "NO" vote is an historical choice that will stand out like a beacon of hope and a torch of freedom for the oppressed who suffer discrimination because they have been denied "freedom from religious persecution" and "freedom of religion." Abraham Lincoln believed that those who deny freedom unto others deserve it not for themselves.
