THE PRIVACY PROJECT BROWARD HEADQUARTERS, P.O. BOX 220933, HOLLYWOOD, FL 33022, 305-921-1056 For more information contact Pat McGarry FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE PRIVACY PROJECT KICKS OFF BROWARD CAMPAIGN The Privacy Project, a bold new initiative to protect the fundamental rights of all Floridians including Lesbian and Gay citizens, has formally established a headquarters in Broward County. Long-time activist, Pat McGarry, has been appointed to coordinate all Broward activities. The goal of The Privacy Project is to amend the state constitution to ban discrimination, in jobs, housing, public services and credit, based on a person's private life. This does not mean that we must be in the closet to avoid discrimination. The protection proposed by The Privacy Project's initiative is not limited to what one keeps hidden or secret; a person would not lose the right of privacy just because personal facts are revealed or become known. At this time, the main focus of The Privacy Project is a petition drive to include the proposed amendment on the November 1994 ballot. Therefore, the project will not be competing with other community organizations for funds in the immediate future. A Town Meeting, to discuss the project and to implement the petition drive is scheduled for Saturday, November 13, 1993, at 10:00 AM at The Metropolitan Community Church, 330 SW 27 St. in Ft. Lauderdale. All interested parties are urged to attend. For further information about the meeting or about The Privacy Project, call 305-921-1056. =================================================================== If you are a registered Florida voter and would like to receive a copy of the proposed amendment petition, send a request via e-mail to bowdenc@alpha.acast.nova.edu.
