This just came across the wire here at KOA (Denver) gang. From ABC Radio News. "The Miami Beach City Commission has voted to pass a proposed ordinance to make discrimination against homosexuals illegal. The unanimous vote by city commissioners makes Miami Beach the first city in Dade County to adopt a gay rights ordinance. It bans discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation and is seen as a landmark vote to make the local community an official part of what's going on. In the 1980's, gay people were among the leaders of the battle to declare much of sough beach a historic district. A growing number of gay-owned busineeses have taken root in the community. The move here to protect homosexuals comes as communities in other Florida cities, such as Tampa, are attacking gay rights laws."
