Gazette Telegraph, Colorado Springs February 16, 1993 * Come Together Colorado filed its proposal on Monday with the Legislative Council, the staff arm of the state Legislataure. * The Legislative council will hold a hearing on March 1 to go over any wording problems or conflicts with existing law. Backers may incorporate or reject suggested changes, if any. * A second hearing will be held by the Legislative Council if major alterations are made to the original measure. * Representatives of the ssecretary of state, the atatorney general and lawyears for the Legislature will set the proposal's ballot title and a summary. * Before publication of petitions, the secretary of state must approve the proposal's form and content. * Critics may seek another hearing on the ballot title or summary or may file a protest with the Colorado Supreme Court. * If the proposal is deemed valid, petitions are printed and the sig- nature gathering process starts. * To be eligible for a vote in November, proponents must present 49,279 valid voter signatures to the secretary of state by Aug. 2.
