>From the San Francisco Sentinel 8-11-93 based on wire service reports. The American Booksellers Association has given $10,000 to the ACLU of Colorado to support the fight against Amendment 2. "Our membership is strongly opposed to Amendment 2 in Colorado as well as all similar attempts to legalize discrimination anywhere in the country," said Chuck Robinson, president of the ABA. The ABA, a national trade association of America's retail book business, passed a resolution at a meeting earlier this year to make the money available to fight Amendment 2. James H. Joy, executive director of the ACLU of Colorado, estimates that his organization will spend at least $75,000 on Amendment-2 related expenses by November. "That's a major piece of our budget, but it's a small price to pay to defend the rights guaranteed to al Americans under the U.S. Constitution," Joy said.
