About 300 people gathered in Boulder last night for a community meeting to discuss what action can be taken to stop Amendment 2. Representatives from various organization spoke about what their groups are doing, and the meeting split up into smaller working groups to formulate plans of action with these groups. Below is a list of some of the work that is being done: Colorado Legal Initiatives Project (CLIP) P.O. Box 44447 Denver, CO 80201 303-830-2100 CLIP is filing a lawsuit to overturn Amendment 2, and is seeking an injunction to prevent the amendment from being implemented until the case has gone through the court system. Project VisAbility P.O. Box 1823 Boulder, CO 80306 Project VisAbility is committed to grassroots activism and will be working at the grassroots level to convince people in Colorado that discrimination is wrong. The Equal Protection Campaign (EPOC) P.O. Box 300476 Denver, CO 80203 303-839-5540 EPOC is in the process of hiring new staff and expanding its coalition. It's focus will be on grassroots organizing and public education about civil rights vs. special rights. Boulder Organization for Non-Discrimination (BOND) BOND will be focusing on putting pressure on the system from within. This includes promoting public understanding and positive images of homosexuality, and working with the Colorado Democratic Party. BOND is also organizing a "discrimination watch" to publicize incidents of anti-gay discrimination and will be talking to businesses in the Boulder area to ask them to defy Amendment 2 by including sexual orientation in their company policy on discrimination. Christians for the Advancement of Human Rights 303-442-5059 meeting every Tuesday at 5 pm in UMC room 157B This group will be enlisting the support of the Christian community by speaking to congregations about what can be done to stop Amendment 2, and by introducing the Christian community to the gay community. Showing our Colors at Boulder's Lights of December Parade No gay group has ever marched in the Lights of December Parade. This year, a group will march under the rainbow banner. The parade is on December 4 at 6:30 pm. Meet at the corner of Pearl and 15th. Bring a flashlight and wear white. March on Washington, Colorado Coalition Will organize the Colorado contingent to the national march for lesbian, gay, and bisexual rights, on April 25, 1993. Discrimination is Bad Business Wants to create a list of businesses which have actively supported the No on 2 campaign and a list of supporters of Amendment 2. Will ask supportive businesses to put a "Hate Free Zone" sign in their window.
