The purpose of the office is to provide a "safe space" for lgb students, staff and faculty. It will serve as a focal point for lgb campus activities and groups. The staff member will, among other responsibilities: * Conduct community education, outreach and visibility campaigns; * Organize workshops, lectures, programs and leadership courses that are of interest to the lgb communities on and off campus; * Help to create a functioning network of existing groups and organizations that serve the campus lgb community; * Maintain information and resources that are interest to the lgb campus community; * Cultivate role-modeling, mentoring and peer counseling programs involving students, faculty and staff; and * Assess student, staff and faculty needs and report to the University community on the quality of life for lgbs on the campus.
