CA Congresswoman Maxine Waters and Lt. Governor Grey Davis will speak at a rally denouncing policies of radical religious right and welcoming the Metropolitan Community Church of Los Angeles to the City of West Hollywood, CA on Sunday, July 27, 1995 from 5-7 p.m at the Old West Hollywood City Hall, 8611 Santa Monica Blvd. The rally will feature a number of prominent Los Angeles area political leaders as well as live music and entertainment.. The event if free, open to the general public and is handicap accessible. Celebrating more than twenty-five years of ministry, the Metropolitan Community Church of Los Angeles is the founding congregation of the Universal Fellowship of Metropolitan Community Churches (UFMCC), the largest lesbian and gay orgainzation in the world. Established in 1968, MCCLA is one of over 350 UFMCC congregations world wide which maintain, support and encourage a Christian outreach to the gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgendered as well as heterosexual community. MCCLA and the UFMCC emphasize Christian social action and vigorous opposition to fundamentalist religious propaganda.
