BILLS: Bill (Author - all Assembly Members): bill description AB 53 (Kevin Murray): Allows unmarrried couples (including same-gender couples) to adopt. AB 54 (Kevin Murray): Basic statewide domestic partnership bill; includes a registry, hospital visitation rights, and conservatorship rights. AB 101 (Sheila Kuehl): Prohibits discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation in California's public schools. AB 257 (Antonio Villaraigosa): Adds "sexual orientation" to California's Fair Employment and Housing Act (FEHA). AB 492 (Fred Keeley): Extends the time to file a sexual orientation discrimination complaint with the Labor Commissioner from 30 days to a year. AB 1059 (Carole Migden): Requires health care insurers to allow coverage for domestic partners when spousal coverage is also available.
