Subject: "Bathhouse Night" meeting 08/22, 6 pm at MCC in SF

Dear friends,

AIDS and STD prevention activists will be meeting this Sunday, August 22 at
the Metropolitan Community Church on Eureka Street from 6:00 until 7:30 pm to
organize a response to the Department of Public Health's recent high-pitched
alert about alleged increases of syphilis cases among gay men. The
department believes Internet chat rooms may be the meeting place for San
Francisco gay men who supposed contracted syphilis from partners cruising the
web.

Also on the agenda is the continuing signature gathering campaign for the
bathhouse initiative. The activists must collect 7,000 more signatures by
November 8 to qualify for the March 2000 primary and need volunteers to
assist in circulating petitions at community events.

Lastly, a gay "Bathhouse Night" is in development to occur in September at
one of the city's hot tub facilities, which list themselves as "Baths" in the
Pacific Bell yellow pages directory. At least 22 volunteers are needed for
this fun-filled action.

Questions? Call me at 415-621-6267. Otherwise, see you at the meeting.
