From: KATE@bombay.GPS.CALTECH.EDU MEDIA-ADVISORY 02-05 0176 FROM: Federal / State Joint Information System - Pasadena MEDIA ADVISORY (Not for publication) ATTN: RADIO & TELEVISION FOR PHOTO AND SOT OPPORTUNITY MOBILE DAC SET TO VISIT GAY AND LESBIAN COMMUNITY SERVICE CENTER One of the nine federal/state mobile Disaster Application Centers (DACs) in the field today, Feb. 5, is located at the Gay and Lesbian Community Service Center, 1625 N. Hudson Ave., Los Angeles. Service started at 9 a.m. and will continue until 7 p.m. tonight. The mobile DAC operation enables the application process to be more accessible to communities and populations which suffered damage and losses from the Northridge earthquake and which cannot easily get to one of the permanent DAC facilities. Mobile DACs differ from fixed site DACs in that the staff is smaller and generally not all agencies are represented. The personnel and equipment can be quickly relocated from site to site. Reporters/crews visiting the center should contact public information officer Angel Santiago at the site. -end- FEMA-DR-1008-CA-MA#159 February 5, 1994 Media Contacts: (818) 405-7496\583-7779 Pager:(805) 374-6673 s:\user\common\pio\1008\MOBDAC ---------------- EDIS-02-05-94 1522 PST
