Fred Hilman, a board member of the local Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays, said that the club is "making schools safe for gay and lesbian students. Alaska, a state of pioneers, should be leading in this issue." Though local conservative talk radio is abuzz with vitriolic attacks on the club, the Anchorage Daily News published an editorial on November 27 supporting the club. The school board will discuss the issue at its December 9 meeting, to be held at 6:30 PM. For more information contact Mary DuHoux (the club's faculty advisor) at (907) 243-1141. ============================================================ Jean Richter -- richter@eecs.berkeley.edu The P.E.R.S.O.N.
