Date: Thu, 23 Mar 1995 07:27:41 -0500 (EST) From: David Casti Submitted by: sun killer Despite our best efforts to stop House Bill 226 (A bill that prevents companies and the state from having to pay domestic partnership benefits) and House Bill 227 (A bill stating that marriage is a union between only one man and one woman) in the legislature, it is beginning to look ass if both will pass. If this happens, our only hope is to get the Governor to veto these bills (especially 226). According to several of the Governor's staff members, he will veto House Bill 226, but ONLY if he gets a great deal of mail on the subject from both inside and outside of Alaska. We need people who are willing to write, call, or fax the governor telling him to veto this piece of legislation if we are to have any hope of defeating this attack on the gay community. The Governor of Alaska's name is Tony Knowles. His phone number is: (907) 465-3500 His fax number is: (907) 463-3454 His Address is: Governor Tony Knowles PO box 110001 Juneau Ak. 99811-0001 Thank you for your time and effort in helping us fight this legislation. With your help (and no small quantity of luck) we will be able to defeat this attempted harm to the Alaska gay community.
