It is believed to be the first time progressive groups from across the spectrum have gathered to discuss common interests in litigating federal gender law. The meeting was spurred by the Supreme Court's recent Oncale decision on same-sex harassment. Litigators at the day-long Roundtable focused on where federal gender law is going, how best to shape courtroom strategy, and better coordination of their individual legal efforts in light of the expanding volume of federal gender cases. The Roundtable was hosted by the Gender Public Advocacy Coalition (GenderPAC), the National Center for Lesbian Rights (NCLR), and the Human Rights Campaign (HRC). Attending were representatives of the American Civil Liberties Union, Rep. Barney Frank's Office, Gay & Lesbian Advocates and Defenders, Lambda Legal Defense and Education Fund, the National Partnership for Women and Families, the National Women's Law Center, and the NOW Legal Defense and Education Fund. Also attending were Prof.'s Chai Feldblum of Georgetown University Law Center, and Nancy Polikoff of American University Law School. The meeting was hosted by the Washington office of law firm Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher, and Flom. ###
