Date: Mon, 28 Feb 2000 00:53:27 -0500 From: Interfaith Working Group Subject: IWG Fox Family Channel letter February 27, 2000 Richard Cronin President/CEO The Fox Family Channel 10960 Wilshire Blvd. Los Angeles, CA 90024 Dear Mr. Cronin: We understand that you are contractually obligated to carry the 700 Club, and we completely support your right and Pat Robertson’s right to broadcast whatever message you want, to project whatever image you want for yourself, and to choose the audience to which you want to appeal. However, since we are very familiar with the 700 Club and Pat Robertson’s harmful message, we are dedicated to countering that message and supporting anyone who works to counter that message. We hope that you will choose to dissociate yourselves from that message to the fullest extent that you possibly can. To that end we ask that you agree to meet with representatives of the Committee to Bring Truth to Pat Robertson and the Fox Family Channel in order to work out ways to both provide an alternative message and to indicate that the 700 Club does not reflect the values of the Fox Family Channel. Sincerely, Barbara Lamond Purdom Christopher Purdom Interfaith Working Group Coordinators The above letter was sent on IWG letterhead listing 19 congregations and religious organizations and 63 clergy from 16 religious traditions.
