Dear Editors:

In his July 28 letter, Jon Hoerlein suggests
banning "books that attempt to legitimize immoral
sexual lifestyles." However, Hoerlein is not the
only person in the world who believes that "moral
absolutes exist," and many religious people believe
that one of those absolutes is the equality of
same-gender and mixed-gender relationships.
Religious liberty is good for the United States, and
banning books is bad for everybody.

Sincerely,
Barbara Purdom Christopher Purdom

The above letter went out on IWG letterhead listing 17 congregations and
organizations and 67 clergy from 15 religious traditions. If you are in
the general Philadelphia area and represent a congregation or religious
organization or are clergy, let us know if you want to be added - all faiths
are welcome. We will also be happy to help start similar organizations in
other areas.
