Dear Editors:

In response to the April 4 article, "The face of
Christianity:" There may not be any organizations in
Seattle to increase the visibility of progressive
congregations, but in the Philadelphia area, the
Interfaith Working Group provides a voice and a forum
for religious organizations, congregations and clergy
supporting gay rights, reproductive freedom, and
separation of church and state (the same issues
that the Religious Right focuses on). We
encourage others to use our organization as a model
and our website (www.libertynet.org/iwg) as a
resource.

Sincerely,
Barbara Purdom Christopher Purdom
Interfaith Working Group Coordinators

The above letter went out on IWG letterhead listing 17 congregations and
organizations and 61 clergy from 15 religious traditions. If you are in
the general Philadelphia area and represent a congregation or religious
organization or are clergy, let us know if you want to be added - all faiths
are welcome. We will also be happy to help start similar organizations in
other areas.
