Dear Editors:

We appreciated the obvious skepticism and
attempts at balance in your coverage of the "Education
or Indoctrination" conference. However, while an
attorney for the Utah State Board of Education denied
the existence of a plot to "promote homosexuality and
undermine religion" (a rather ridiculous charge in a
state that did everything in its power to deny sexual
minority children the right to even meet on school
property), the faulty premise on which the charge was
based went unchallenged: homosexuality and religion
are not incompatible, and the promotion of equal
treatment and respect for sexual minorities does not
require the "undermining" of religion.

Sincerely,
Barbara Purdom Christopher Purdom

The above letter went out on IWG letterhead listing 17 congregations and
organizations and 65 clergy from 15 religious traditions. If you are in
the general Philadelphia area and represent a congregation or religious
organization or are clergy, let us know if you want to be added - all faiths
are welcome. We will also be happy to help start similar organizations in
other areas.
