Dear Editors:

In response to Eric Kitchen’s letter (April 1):
Religious organizations, congregations and clergy from
many religious traditions support equal civil and
religious rights for those who are attracted to people
of the same gender. This support is usually based on
a belief in the inherent worth and equality of all
people, and by extension a belief in the moral and
ethical equivalence of same- and mixed-gender
relationships. These beliefs have nothing to do with
dictionary definitions.

Sincerely,
Barbara Purdom Christopher Purdom

The above letter went out on IWG letterhead listing 17 congregations and
organizations and 61 clergy from 15 religious traditions. If you are in
the general Philadelphia area and represent a congregation or religious
organization or are clergy, let us know if you want to be added - all faiths
are welcome. We will also be happy to help start similar organizations in
other areas.
