Robert White, executive director of the Georgia Baptist Convention. Rev. White was quoted in a September 15 article as saying: "There are a whole lot of people who are looking for someone who will stand up for what they believe.” We cannot think of better example of standing up for a belief in what is right and good than Oakhurst Baptist Church, or any of the other congregations and clergy from many Christian denominations across the United States who are willing to risk disciplinary action from denominational bodies for their unwavering support of sexual minorities. Sincerely, Barbara Purdom Christopher Purdom Interfaith Working Group Coordinators The above letter was sent on IWG letterhead listing 17 congregations and religious organizations and 63 clergy from 16 religious traditions.
