Dear Editors:

Thank you for publishing Patricia Nell Warren's "The
Right to Identify." Although we think that Ms.
Warren is overstating the case for the fluidity of
sexual orientation, we do agree on her main point:
that when it comes to respect, basic civil rights,
and equal treatment under the law, whether people can
change or not really doesn't matter. If people want
to change, they ought to be allowed to change. But
if they can change, that doesn't mean they should be
forced to change. And if they can't change, they
certainly shouldn't be forced to pretend to conform.

Sincerely,
Barbara Purdom Christopher Purdom

The above letter went out on IWG letterhead listing 17 congregations and
organizations and 65 clergy from 15 religious traditions. If you are in
the general Philadelphia area and represent a congregation or religious
organization or are clergy, let us know if you want to be added - all faiths
are welcome. We will also be happy to help start similar organizations in
other areas.
