Dear Editors:

Thank you for your February 7 editorial against the
anti-gay bill in the state legislature. Theology has
no place in debates over public policy by elected
officials. The quotes in your editorial indicate a
complete lack of respect by some legislators for the
increasing religious diversity of the American
people, and especially for the fact that many people
feel compelled by their religious beliefs to treat
all families and all people equally, regardless of
gender or sexual orientation.

Sincerely,
Barbara Purdom Christopher Purdom

The above letter went out on IWG letterhead listing 17 congregations and
organizations and 61 clergy from 15 religious traditions. If you are in
the general Philadelphia area and represent a congregation or religious
organization or are clergy, let us know if you want to be added - all faiths
are welcome. We will also be happy to help start similar organizations in
other areas.
