Dear Editors:

	Thank you for the excellent interview with Lisa J.
Shelby advocating comprehensive sex education. 
However, we  disagree with the statement that "moralism
is not effective."  We believe it would be more correct
to say that moralism is neither an effective substitute
for comprehensive sex education, nor an appropriate
methodology in publicly-funded schools in a religiously
diverse society.  Moral and ethical teaching about
human interaction are socially valuable and can be
extremely effective when conducted within families and
religious institutions.
