The following went out on IWG letterhead listing 12 congregations and
organizations and 56 clergy from 15 religious traditions. If you are in
the general Philadelphia area and represent a congregation or religious
organization or are clergy, let us know if you want to be added - all faiths
are welcome. We will also be happy to help start similar organizations in
other areas.

Dear Editors:

We were extremely alarmed to read that a Congressional
"Values Action Team" has been formed to work with
Religious Right leaders to help implement their agenda
for America. It is not appropriate for Congress to
pander to organizations with theological agendas. The
Religious Right is not trying to win equal rights for
themselves and others; they are interested in
restricting or abolishing many of the rights that most
of us take completely for granted. We cannot preserve
these rights unless everyone participates in the
political process.

Sincerely,
Barbara Purdom Christopher Purdom
