The following went out on IWG letterhead listing 12 congregations and
organizations and 54 clergy from 15 religious traditions. If you are in
the general Philadelphia area and represent a congregation or religious
organization or are clergy, let us know if you want to be added - all faiths
are welcome. We will also be happy to help start similar organizations in
other areas.

Dear Editors:

We were astounded by the assertion of Clint Keller and
Matt Molsen (letter, January 23) that "heterosexuals
who seek the normalization of homosexuality" are
"weakening society's standards and should be condemned
for this belief." Keller and Molsen are condemning
religious activists from many faith traditions who are
simply trying to convince society to work within what
they believe is a higher standard based on love and
respect rather than the enforcement of rigid gender
roles.

Society can define "family" in such a way that families
of all types are treated equally, just as we define
religion broadly enough that people of all faiths are
afforded the same protections.

Sincerely,
Barbara Purdom Christopher Purdom
