The following went out on IWG letterhead listing 9 congregations and religious
organizations and 38 clergy from 13 faiths and denominations. If you are in
the general Philadelphia area and represent a congregation or religious
organization or are clergy, let us know if you want to be added - all faiths
are welcome. We will also be happy to help start similar organizations in
other areas.

Dear Editors:

Thank you for running Diane Targovnik's story about gay
Jews. It is always a relief to see the full spectrum
of religious attitudes about social issues portrayed
accurately in the media. The sidebar clarifying the
positions of the various Jewish movements was
especially useful, although in referring to the
Reconstructionist movement as the "most liberal," you
indulged in oversimplification. Organized religions
have complex belief systems that cannot always be
labeled with political terms like "conservative" and
"liberal" without losing an understanding of their
theological motivation.

Sincerely,
