The last two letters went out on letterhead too, I just forgot the header.

The following went out on IWG letterhead listing 10 congregations and religious
organizations and 49 clergy from 14 faiths and denominations. If you are in
the general Philadelphia area and represent a congregation or religious
organization or are clergy, let us know if you want to be added - all faiths
are welcome. We will also be happy to help start similar organizations in
other areas.

Dear Editors:

While we greatly appreciated the thorough and
relatively balanced coverage given to the Davidson
County Commission's legal codification of heterosexual
supremacy, we were disappointed by the one-sidedness
of the religious views. You mentioned Commissioner
Potts' ten Bibles, talked about an affront to
conservative religious beliefs, quoted Rev. Coy
Privette on how "committed Christians and Jews won't
surrender," and listed such quasi-religious
organizations as the American Family Association and
the Christian Coalition in your list of references.
Meanwhile, you limited your discussion of social
acceptance of sexual minorities to legal protection,
partnership benefits and TV roles.

Truly balanced coverage would have included some
discussion of the debate among people of faith over
this issue, the growing acceptance of sexual minorities
in our houses of worship, and the listing of at least
one gay-friendly religious organization. We suggest
your readers visit our extensive web site at
http://www.libertynet.org/~iwg/ if they want "To Learn
More." They will find that there are committed
Christians, Jews, and other people of faith who support
the legal and religious recognition of the equality of
sexual minorities.

Sincerely,
Barbara Purdom Christopher Purdom
