November 16, 1997 Letters Editor The Kansas City Star 1729 Grand Avenue Kansas City, MO 64108 Dear Editors: Doug Good (letter, November 6) lumps phone calls and boycotts by church members with a single death threat, labels it all "violence," and then points to this collection of "violent" acts as typical of a rather large group, "pro-homosexual/lesbian people." Death threats are never acceptable, but you can only blame the person who does it, and ask those encouraging such behavior to carefully consider their words and actions; you cannot blame everyone who shares some barely relevant characteristic with the person making the threat. If the Wynan sisters had chosen to sing about a trait of Mr. Good's that he felt was at the core of his being, he would not be happy, and he too might have called them or written a letter suggesting a calm discussion of religious differences. When people are talking about you, it's a little hard to see it as a simple difference of opinion.
