November 7, 1997 Harvard Crimson 14 Plympton Street Cambridge, MA 02138 Christopher Roberts' comments regarding National Coming Out of Homosexuality Day were a perfectly reasonable (though highly debatable) summary of majority conservative Christian beliefs regarding sexual orientation. However, he claimed that his statement reflected the beliefs of all Christians, when in fact there is a diversity of opinion concerning sexual orientation in Christian churches, and among Christian laity and clergy. Since his comments appeared in a publication associated with the same institution as Rev. Gomes, his overstatement seems especially ridiculous.
