The following went out on IWG letterhead listing 3 congregations, 5 religious
organizations and 37 clergy from 12 faiths and denominations. If you are in
the general Philadelphia area and represent a congregation or religious
organization or are clergy, let us know if you want to be added - all faiths
are welcome. We will also be happy to help start similar organizations in
other areas.

Dear Editors:

We are writing to correct the mistaken impression of
some of your readers about the uniformity of opinion on
same-gender marriage among people of faith. Our
organization, which is composed of clergy and religious
organizations from 12 faiths and denominations,
supports the legal recognition of the marriages of
same-gender couples. Joining us in this support are
the Hawaii Council of Churches, the California Council
of Churches, the Reconstructionist Rabbinical
Association, the Central Conference of American Rabbis,
the Universal Fellowship of Metropolitan Community
Churches, the Unitarian Universalist Association, the
Presbyterian Church (USA), and the Pacific Congress of
Quakers.

Sincerely,
Barbara Purdom Christopher Purdom
