December 15, 1997 Philadelphia Daily News PO Box 7788 Phila., PA 19101 Dear Editors: Since the Catholic League recently objected to the use of Penn State display space for a Catholic student's artistic expression of her faith, it was fascinating to note that the League is using Judge Lewis Quadrangle to display a nativity scene. The conflicts inherent in the free exercise, free speech, and establishment clauses of the first amendment present an eternal judicial challenge, but it would be nice if every group with an opinion was at least as consistent as the Jewish Community Relations Council, and as conscious of the social issues involved.
