February 4, 1997 The Charlotte Observer PO Box 2138 Charlotte, NC 28233 Dear Editors: We were very pleased to read that the Virginia Theological Seminary is changing its sexual behavior policy from the one identical to a policy currently being considered for adoption by the Presbyterian Church (USA) entitled "Fidelity and Chastity Amendment". Hopefully the seminary's recognition that the morality of any sexual activity depends on responsibility, mutual respect, and intent, and not on marital status or gender, will set a good example for denominations which are having difficulty agreeing on standards of moral sexual behavior.
