The following letter to all 14 senators who voted NEA on DOMA
went out on IWG letterhead listing 2 congregations, 5 religious
organizations and 35 clergy from 12 faiths and denominations. If you are in
the general Philadelphia area and represent a congregation or religious
organization or are clergy, let us know if you want to be added - all faiths
are welcome. We will also be happy to help start similar organizations in
other areas. Visit the web page at http://www.libertynet.org/~iwg/.

Address

Dear Senator X:

Thank you for your vote against the so-called "Defense
of Marriage Act". It was a vote for morality and for
the good of America. You have demonstrated a true
understanding of the separation of church and state,
equal protection under the law, and the harm caused by
religious and sexual discrimination.

This issue will come up again. Whether it is decided
by the individual states, Congress, or the U.S.
Supreme Court, same-gender marriages will be legally
recognized in this country. We urge you to stay the
course, to realize that those who will inevitably
complain about your vote on religious grounds do not
speak for all people of faith, and to know that we and
others like us are doing everything in our power to
educate the American public on the goodness and
rightness of legal recognition of same-gender
marriages.

Thank you again.
