If you are in the general Philadelphia area and represent a congregation or religious organization or are clergy, let us know if you want to be added - all faiths are welcome. We will also be happy to help start similar organizations in other areas. Visit the web page at http://www.libertynet.org/~iwg/ or http://www.qrd.org/qrd/www/religion/orgs/iwg/ (note - this was sent because it was reported that a local "taxpayer" group had complained about the use of the SPLC materials and their inclusion of sexual orientation. let us know if you are interested in the "Teaching Tolerance" materials for your own use) February 24, 1996 Dr. Timothy Kirby Superintendent Penn-Delco School District Wm G. Moser Administration Bldg. 95 Concord Road. Aston, PA 19014 Dear Mr. Kirby, We were pleased to learn that Bud Frampton has been using the Southern Poverty Law Center's "Teaching Tolerance" materials, including the story about Charlie Howard, who had been killed in an anti-gay hate crime. The Southern Poverty Law Center is a fine organization, dedicated to fighting hate, and we frequently recommend their materials to teachers. We hope that more schools will follow Mr. Frampton's example and you should be proud to have such a fine teacher in your district. Sincerely, Barbara Purdom Christopher Purdom Interfaith Working Group Coordinators
