The following went out on IWG letterhead listing 2 congregations, 5 religious
organizations and 35 clergy from 12 faiths and denominations. If you are in
the general Philadelphia area and represent a congregation or religious
organization or are clergy, let us know if you want to be added - all faiths
are welcome. We will also be happy to help start similar organizations in
other areas. Visit the web page at http://www.libertynet.org/~iwg/.

Dear Editors:

Your September 5 article about same-gender marriage
could easily have given readers the mistaken impression
that all religious people and organizations have a
heterosexist definition of the institution. The
Interfaith Working Group is only one of a rapidly
growing number of religious organizations around the
country that support immediate legal recognition of
same-gender marriages. Announcements of support by the
Central Conference of American Rabbis, the Unitarian
Universalist Association, and the Pacific Congress of
Quakers have all made the national news this year, as
has the nationwide fast against DOMA announced by the
Universal Fellowship of Metropolitan Community
Churches.

					Sincerely,
