In public hearings in Hawaii, Buddhist leaders testified in favor of same-sex marriage. Though Mr. Taylor failed to mention Judaism in his list of great religions, the Central Conference of American Rabbis has endorsed same-sex marriage. Some Quaker and Eastern Orthodox congregations also bless same-sex unions, and many individual clergy in several protestant denominations also choose to perform this ceremony. The California Council of Churches, which represents the mainline Protestant Christian churches in that state, have endorsed same-sex marriage, as has the Interfaith Working Group, which includes two congregations, four religious organizations and twenty-three clergy in the Philadelphia area from nine faiths and denominations. Sincerely, Barbara Purdom Christopher Purdom Interfaith Working Group Coordinators
