Roberta Hestenes, moderator of the church's Ordination and Human Sex- uality Committee and president of Eastern College in St. David's was quoted as saying that "this church must now speak with a clear voice about the understand-ing of scripture and human sexuality." We can assure you that the Interfaith Working Group and all of our Presbyterian members will continue to speak with a clear voice about our understanding of scripture and human sexuality. However, as long as the Presbyterian Church (USA) continues to grant special rights to heterosexuals, while claiming to abhor discrimination, the voice of the church will be neither clear nor unified. Sincerely, Barbara Purdom Christopher Purdom Interfaith Working Group Coordinators
